(9) Treatment of telehealth services furnished using audio-only telecommunications technology In the case that the emergency period described in section 1320b–5(g)(1)(B) of this title ends before December 31, 2024 , the Secretary shall continue to provide coverage and payment under this part for telehealth services identified in paragraph (4)(F)(i) as of March 15, 2022 , that are furnished via an audio-only communications system during the period beginning on the first day after the end of such emergency period and ending on December 31, 2024 . For purposes of the previous sentence, the term “telehealth service” means a telehealth service identified as of March 15, 2022 , by a HCPCS code (and any succeeding codes) for which the Secretary has not applied the requirements of paragraph (1) and the first sentence of section 410.78 (a)(3) of title 42, Code of Federal Regulations , during such emergency period.
